Insult one of us, you insult all of us

Nae contrition, nae aboot-turns, nae sense of self or consequence, in fact nae sense.

Now a few days further on and the likely future Prime Minister of the UK, replacing  the current period where there doesn’t seem to be one, (the soon-to-be-former incumbent spending his time ticking off a bucket list of expensive things he is allowed to do at tax payer and Tory party contributor expense when he hasn’t officially resigned yet) continues to act as if she can say exactly what she likes to satisfy slabbering right-wing audiences.

She has the worrying wide-eyed fanatical look of one you wouldn’t want in your corner in a crisis, where sharp wit, calmness and good sense is required.

I don’t know for certain, but going on all evidence we as voters have been presented so far, she certainly ain’t gonnae be the most erudite visionary at the Despatch Box either.

Her aim right now is simple, to work the ranks of right-wing England into a frenzy.

She’ll say anything to catch the eye, to be the subject of  discussion of the Pimms drinkers and garden party attendees of the south-east of England (as they complain about the heat and discuss how Daddy’s grandparents struggled with it in India, before coming home wealthy enough to buy the mansion style pile behind the garden they are currently sitting in).

She also hopes to enthuse those others, the more dangerous Tories, the new ‘rising’ kind, the my father was a greengrocer type (Where did we hear that before). Those who have strayed from their roots, the next generational spawn of Thatcherism. Those who are truly ruthless, selfish beyond belief, uncompromising and conscience-free in their need for greed, to get on.

Worryingly too, and this has applied across the board, as the Tories continue to lurch steadily down the road towards extreme right fascism, she is attempting to dog-whistle the narrow-minded hate-filled former UKIP mob, who lined up behind the monstrous Farage. A group not to be underrated when you consider that their major gains in local elections across England was the main reason Cameron capitulated in having a referendum on Europe in the first place.

With the coming economic strife and the world heading into ever deeper crises I honestly fear that England will sink politically, with its population hardly recognising that it is happening, into a mire akin to what would have occurred if Mosley had gotten deeper traction in the 1930’s.

Truss is weak in every way and it is obvious she will be a place keeper, but a place keeper for whom it is hard to tell.

Meanwhile she can smirk like a naughty child when she adds further insult to the belittling of the democratic rights of the people of Scotland and our First Minister https://www.facebook.com/SnpKintyre/videos/785798412422952/ all she likes. Keep it up. Insult one of us, you insult all of us.

Independence is normal, independence is inevitable, independence is coming.

Once recognised there is no going back

There can be no clearer evidence that the political paths which Scotland and England are treading are diverging further by the minute than the Tory travelling leadership circus.

For weeks we’ve watched various candidates for the leadership of the Tory Party vying with each other in a race to the bottom of the couldn’t care less about humanity swamp.

We’ve watched them trying to outdo each other in a succession of offerings, outbidding each other with withering right-wing policies, patronage and tax breaks for the well-off, and punishments for the most in need and vulnerable in society, (policies they would introduce if only the 160,000 or so members of their party would choose them to lead them).

During this time I don’t recognise any of this exhibition of neo-liberal doctrine as having even the slightest appeal to the people of Scotland in any shape or form. In fact it is the antithesis of what the majority of Scots consider as an appropriate way to treat each other as human beings. That level of greed, self-seeking narcissism is not us.

Amazingly, to me anyway, this travelling troupe of elitist promoters of the idea of self-first, self-last, self-always, now like competitors in a horror film game show, whittled down to two contenders, (one of which will eventually be selected for the job of Prime Minister by only 0.3% of the electorate) have been spouting this bile to sometimes near-baying acolytes in venues across England, in areas some of which, to me, were always what could be considered in the past as socialist Old Labour towns and cities. Left-wing or even centrist they no longer are. Again, that is not us. Labour left us, not the other way around.

Now we see yesterday what surely must be the game-changing moment of the race for leadership contest so far, if you are a Scot that is, this is us, when putative Prime Minister to be (Yes I can’t believe it either) Liz Truss made her feelings known to a baying audience of Tory members in Exeter about what she thinks about the rights of the people of Scotland, as expressed at the ballot box via our democratic choices of representatives to carry out our instructions.

Rest assured, dear friends, you won’t be able to find a Scottish Tory representative willing to come in front of a mike or camera to try and defend these comments today, no matter how many rocks you look under.

Now surely after watching that even the most deeply in denial of our number, our ProudScotButs, our Too wee-Too poor-Too dependent thinkers, our ‘once in a generationists’ those that thoroughly oppose the very notion that Scotland can govern itself, surely must concede that this casual dismissal of the Scottish electorate is an affront to their own personal democratic rights as a citizen and to the democratic rights of everybody else in Scotland?

Liz Truss, playing to the gallery, ready to feed the Little Britain culture of right-wing Toryism, putting down the Jocks, has made a complete mockery of the electoral process, and dazzlingly exposes under a burning sharp laser beam of light the fact that Scotland is not now, and will never be, an equal consenting partner in the sham that is supposed to be the consenting union of nations.

Once recognised. Once you can see past the daily 24/7 bias of a media with vested interests in retaining the union. Once understanding and accepting that simple fact, then it all becomes clear, there is no going back.

Independence is normal, independence is inevitable, independence is coming.
