Bring out your dead

I’ve been reading for days in the Scottish news media about how Scotland is just about to officially go into recession, based on the predicted figures being released today, quoting the traditional established method of identifying a recession.

A veritable dark ages was apparently awaiting, the Black Death, famine, swarms of locusts, hourly orange walks, the clearance of those remaining in the highlands, obligatory childhood croup and compulsory piles in all Scottish adults, reports predictably comparing Scotland’s alleged predicament unfavourably against the rest of the UK, which they consistently quoted as ‘powering ahead’.

The reality today, when the figures were actually released, is that Scotland’s economy is back in growth, official figures showed GDP grew by 0.8%, having shrunk by 0.2% in the previous three months, and now Scotland has outstripped the UK as a whole, which saw growth of just 0.2% in the first three months of the year.

Oh for a media outlet in Scotland prepared to break ranks with the mainstream unionist weighting and bias, and it’s propaganda, if only for a bit of balance, and perhaps a refreshing passing acquaintance with the truth.
